Beerspit Night and Cursing: The Correspondence of Charles Bukowski and Sheri Martinelli, 1960-1967.
by Bukowski, Charles.
Publisher Information:
Black Sparrow Press,
Santa Rosa:
2001.
A Fine, unread copy in paperback wraps. While Bukowski needs no special introduction, his correspondent in this collection of letters may not be as well known. Sheri Martinelli was a small press editor (Anagogic & Paideumic) , protegee of Anais Nin, muse and mistress of Ezra Pound, friend of Charlie Parker, and admired by Marlon Brando and the Beat writers. It is with this background that her correspondence with Bukowski rises above the level of pedestrian. The bulk of these letters were written in the first year of their friendship in 1962 then trailed off until they ended in 1967. The letters cover the personal as well as the topics of art and writing. 380 pages.
