A Near Fine copy with a discreet owner name in a Near Fine price unclipped dust jacket with a short tear at the lower edge of the front fold. This book is the personal narrative of the original seven Project Mercury astronauts--Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Alan Shepard, Deke Slayton and Walter Schirra-- who individually describe their training regimen and recount their space travels. Carpenter, Schirra and Shepard would eventually each walk on the Moon while Glenn became the last of the group to make a space flight. Illustrated with photographs. This copy includes a card inscribed by Carpenter that reads: "Best wishes, M. Scott Carpenter Mercury Astronaut."
