A Near Fine copy with a bookplate on the flyleaf in a Fine bright unclipped dust jacket. This volume of Hesse's fiction contains the story "A Child's Heart" which concerns the transmutation of a boy's innocence into knowledge of good and evil. Also included are two novellas: "Klein and Wagner" and "Klingsor's Last Summer" both of which have heroes more or less Hesse's age at the time of their writing and each involve a grand vision of unity in the polarities of life that precedes their deaths.
