According to Krumhansl there were only 18 copies of the 1st state with the misprint and 747 copies of the 2nd state. There were also 75 hardcover copies. There is a touch of wear to spine. There are no names or markings to text. 89 pages. In this early collection of poems, Bukowski revisits some of his earlier subjects, but instead of his previous surrealistic mode his work explodes with verbal pyrotechnics shedding a fresh light on his own version of the "lower depths."

Barfly is a 1987 American film which is a semi-autobiography of poet/author Charles Bukowski during the time he spent drinking heavily in Los Angeles. The screenplay by Bukowski was commissioned by the French film director Barbet Schroeder. Henry Chinaski is a destitute alcoholic who lives in a rundown apartment and works menial jobs when he can find them. An intelligent man and keenly aware of his circumstance, he finds solace in expressing his feelings and perceptions of the world through writing poetry and short stories.

Sheri Martinelli was a small press editor (Anagogic & Paideumic) , protegee of Anais Nin, muse and mistress of Ezra Pound, friend of Charlie Parker, and admired by Marlon Brando and the Beat writers. It is with this background that her correspondence with Bukowski rises above the level of pedestrian. The bulk of these letters were written in the first year of their friendship in 1962 then trailed off until they ended in 1967.
