Kurt Schwitters.
New York: Abrams, 1967. First Printing of the First Edition. A Near Fine copy in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket. Kurt Schwitters was the purest exponent of the Dada spirit to emerge from Germany as artists and civilians were searching for a more vital subject matter to express their reactions to the madness of the First World War and a shift in traditional values. Schwitters was able to transform the detritus of his surroundings into strange and beautiful works that feature geometric abstractions. Contains 420 illustrations including 54 tipped-in color plates. This over-sized book is heavy and will require additional postage. Item #23173
