A Fine copy with a discreet name on the flyleaf in a Very Good plus price-clipped dust jacket with a small chip to the bottom edge of the front panel. In 1615, sailor, soldier and explorer Samuel de-Champlain emerged from the French River and looked upon the uncharted waters of Lake Huron, the first of the Great Lakes discovered by white men. The author, tells the stories of explorers searching for the Western Sea and a way to the Indies. There are also stories of the fur traders and the priests of old Loyola seeking to Christianize the Indians of Old Huronia. The lake also played an important role in the War of 1812. Item #27547
