For many years British food writer Elizabeth David had traveled widely and in so doing had collected recipes, essays and notes in a box marked "Christmas." She had intended to turn his collected material into a book but did not do so before her death. But her literary executor and agent Jill Norman taken Elizabeth's collection and compiled this book. It includes all the classic dishes including turkey puddings as well as recipes for goose stuffings, sauces and mince pies all adorned with Elizabeth's anecdotal prose that provide a sense of history to her offerings.
