Item #29381 Notes to John. Joan Didion.

Notes to John.

New York: Knopf, 2025. First Printing of the First US Edition. A Fine tight copy in a Fine unclipped dust jacket. This is a largely unedited copy of writer Joan Didion's journal, it consists of 46 diary entries written by Didion after she began seeing a psychiatrist in 1999 due to the fact that she and her family had ungone a few rough years. For several months, Didion recorded conversations with the psychiatrist in meticulous detail. The initial sessions focused on alcoholism, adoption, depression, anxiety, guilt, and the heartbreaking complexities of her relationship with her daughter, Quintana. The subjects evolved to include her work, which she was finding difficult to maintain for sustained periods. There were discussions about her own childhood—misunderstandings and lack of communication with her mother and father, her early tendency to anticipate catastrophe. Item #29381
